Update: I’ve just discovered that Twitterfeed now connects with Facebook … and it works quite nicely. Compare AgileCarnival on Twitter with AgileCarnival on Facebook. Twitterfeed is still very limited in comparison to PingFM, but if all you require is RSS integration with Twitter and Facebook, this might be the simplest solution.
I recently read two descriptions (here and here) on broadcasting blog posts to Twitter and Facebook using TwitterFeed. I do exactly this with AgileCarnival which was a way to create a list on Twitter, before they had lists. But I have to admit, I find TwitterFeed limiting. There is a better, more versatile solution … PingFM. PingFM allows me to distribute blog posts to a number of different social networks all at the same time: Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and a whole bunch of others I know nothing about. No only will it allow me to broadcast tweets, but it also integrates nicely with a number of services. In particular, PingFM integrates with Notify.me and PixelPipe.
So, here’s how I use Notifiy.me and PingFM. I’ve configured Notify.me to take my blog’s RSS feed. And I’ve configured PingFM to take any data from Notify.me and broadcast it to Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. When I post a new blog entry, it gets added to my RSS freed and is picked up by Notify.me. Notify.me will convert the RSS feed into a XMPP message and send it to PingFM … which broadcasts it to all the social websites that I’ve selected. It sounds a little bit complicated, but in actuality it’s a simple stream of data: Blog -> RSS -> Notify.me -> PingFM -> Everything else.
Here’s a gallery of images from the different sites:
Please note that I’m not connect to either PingFM or Notify.me. I’m just impressed with their services.
